Datastream version 5

We are upgrading the database PCs to Datastream version 5.

This means that many of the Datastream answers will be slightly out-of-date. Thomson Reuters who supply Datastream also recommend using the Excel interface (Datastream-AFO) so that is what we are going to encourage.

If you have problems opening an Excel file which includes Datastream requests: close excel, open excel with an empty sheet, and then open your Excel file with the Datastream requests. (Solution from Thomson Reuters helpdesk is to ensure DS Navigator is not pre-loaded by default, and surpress auto-update of requests – see comment below)

Please let us know of any other problems with Datastream 5, or any suggestions for improving the questions and answers.

    Additional Datastream AFO install advice:

    1. Right-click on the lightning icon located on your system tray. [Datastream Advance Connection Manager]
    2. Select Suppress Autorefresh of Embedded Requests.
Note: In case, you don’t see the lightning icon. Please open Microsoft Excel this will automatically load the Datastream’s lightning icon.

    On the Excel application,
    1. Please go T-ONe/Datastream menu then select Options …
    2. On the Options window, untick Preload under Datastream Navigator.
    3. Click OK to save the changes
